Windows Lifecycle Update

Does your business run Windows 7 and/or Windows Server 2008?  If so, please note that Microsoft has announced an important date you need to keep in mind… January 2020.

Windows Server 2008 End of Extended Support
Effective in January 2020,  Microsoft is ending extended support for Windows Server 2008.

Windows 7 End of Extended Support
Effective in January 2020,  Microsoft is ending extended support for Windows 7.

How will this impact your business?
If your business is still running Windows Server 2008, you will need to upgrade your server prior to this date.  If you continue using Windows Server 2008 after January 2020, your server will not receive any patches or updates, which is a major network vulnerability.

Any desktop running Windows 7 will need to be upgraded to Windows 10, or replaced with a new desktop PC that is running Windows 10.  If you continue using Windows 7 after January 2020, your PCs will not receive any patches or updates, which is a major network vulnerability.

Over the coming months, JMK will provide inventory reports outlining PCs and Servers that need to be addressed prior to the January 2020 End of Support.
